Ozobot is a small, smaller than palm sized, coding robot. By all descriptions, it is designed to be educational, teaching children (and adults alike) how to code while having fun and being creative.
Due ti it's small size I wouldn't recommend it for toddlers (everything goes in their mouths), but ages 5 and up would get a kick out of this. Called a 'game piece' , Ozobot doesn't need a special track to run. A simple thick black line will do. The coding comes in the form of three colors ... red, green and blue ... stragecally placed along the track that give the Ozobot it's commands to either turn around, go faster, go slower, or any one of a few other actions. Ozobot will follow a line on either papaper or a smart phone, which makes it wonderful for play. Although a smart phone or tablet has more actions available, running the Ozobot on paper inspires imagination and creativity.
Compared to other small, table top type robots, Ozobot is less pricey. The starter pack, which has just about everything needed, is around the $50 range, with the dual pack going upwards to $120. The ability to personalize Ozobot with stickers and skins more than makes up for the lack of color choices when there is nothing on it. I thoroughly recommend Ozobot, not only for what it inspires people to creat, but also because it doesn't take um much room and the material that comes in a starter pack is more than sufficient without having to get other accessories.
This should be mandatory for every kid. Boy or Girl.
This should be mandatory for every kid. Boy or Girl. Laid a white board flat and was entertainment for hours. If Avery made OZOBOT labels for the laser /ink jet the world would be a better place
