  • Special use device that works if you need it.

Product reviewed is Atlona HDMI/DVI Scaler with Analog/Digital Audio. Model: AT-HD560DVI This is a discontinued product so was purchased used at what I considered a fair price. It solved a problem where I needed to convert an HDMI 1080P output to 1080i so I could feed it to an old CRT HD TV. The AT-HD560 allows you to let it try to autosense the required input and select the conversion OR you can force the output to the format you require. It seems well built and works well in my application.

  • Easy to use, not 1:1 quality though.

It auto detects the correct resolution and is very easy to use. However it introduces color banding and it somewhat laggy, I wouldn't recommend it for any critical viewing or playing video games. 3.5mm audio output has a ton of noise, this is not present when using straight HDMI for sound. There are better options out there, but they are not as intuitive.
