The popular card-battling game and animated television show returns to Game Boy Advance with a new setting and storyline. Based on the spinoff series airing in the U.S. on the Cartoon Network, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (short for Generation Next) has players guiding protagonist Jaden Yuki as he strives to become the "king of games" at the local Dueling Academy. Fans of previous Yu-Gi-Oh! titles will be introduced to new characters, monsters, and more importantly, cards based on the GX world. Those new to Yu-Gi-Oh! will be able to participate in an interactive tutorial, while veteran players can test their knowledge in a series of quizzes designed to improve their duel ranking. As a special bonus, initial shipments of the game will include three exclusive trading cards.

Includes over 1,200 in-game cards School other students in duels to become the "King of Games" Three limited edition official game cards included in package
Unlike other Yu-Gi-Oh games, this one is more than just duels. It also is about schools! You've got the normal battling to earn points to build decks. But, you also have monthly exam days that consist of written exams (10 multiple choice questions out of a large number of possible questions) about the cards themselves, a timed duel where you have to win with the cards in the setup in a set amount of time, and then a practical exam using a deck and having to perform the specified actions for the exam (play traps, play spells, do fusions, do rituals, do direct damage, etc.). This game requires a lot of knowledge of the card game over all.
The rating drops from 4 to 3 stars, because it is a pain to complete the packs. Also, if you fail your exams, you go back down to the loser dorms and have to work your way back up again.
But overall, this is a good game.Read full review
Having played several of the yu-gi-oh games this one stands out above the rest. Apart from dueling different characters from the cartoon series, the player must pass several written and practical exams in order to improve their rank with the hopes that they will become the next "King of games". The games timed duels require a great deal of thought as do the exams. Players must constantly change their decks in order to pass the exams and not "dropout" of duel academy. If someone is looking for a real challenge then this is the game for them. If all players want to do is duel then this would not be suited for them.
