This is a really fun game to play. I had purchased it before several years ago. Unfortunately I had loaned it to someone and never received it back. I was very happy to see it online here on Ebay and purchased it. My wife saw me playing it and decided it looked like fun and wanted a copy so I bought one for her as well. I love the way I start playing and get so involved with building my cities, you truly get sucked in to the point where hours can go buy and you don't even realize you've been playing so long! You must always remember to appease the Gods or they will get DISPLEASED! The only thing I dislike in this game is that some of the missions can be difficult to complete as it doesn't tell you what you need to do to accomplish your goals all the time. The hardest thing is to keep the prosperity built up as you are always have to spend money. Another cool feature is in the update for the game. It comes with a "Mission Editor" that you can edit the custom missions or even create your own. I have lots of fun creating my own maps and mission parameters. All in all, I believe Pharaoh to be an EXCELLENT game!Read full review
This game has always been fun to play. Love the graphics, music and challenges it presents. Lost my original copy, glad to have it back and that it's playable on Windows XP.

I enjoy older computer games and this one is just perfect for me. I use to play it all the time in the early 2000's and lost my copy of it in a move, I was very excited to find it on line about a year ago and bought the first edition, my cat ruined the first cd so I upgraded this time around! I like that I can speed up the game or slow it down to build. I have not had much time to play this one yet i am looking forward to it!
I decided to buy Pharaoh (and, in my case, also the expansion pack Cleopatra) primarily out of nostalgia for my PC-gaming of the early 2000s, and I was not disappointed! In a lot of ways, the game was better than I remembered. In my opinion, Pharaoh is one of the best city-building games out there; much more hands-on and surpassingly more interesting than Sim City, but not as neurologically tangled as Dwarf Fortress. The game also offers fairly decent combat scenarios. Ancient Egyptian life interwoven throughout ties everything together with monument building, culture, crafts, religion and more(don't piss the gods off!). In the end, I would give this game 4.5 out of 5.
I liked the interactive gaming and, because I love Egyptology, this game allows one to view what it meant to be in charge of everything and to keep everything running smoothly. Those pesky Nubians keep attacking and makes life a little difficult, but when you make Pharaoh mad......it becomes a free for all, with you loosing. I really have a great time playing this game and my recent purchase being my second copy, shows this!
