This album starts out like many other Floyd albums, reminiscent of the part in the Wall I believe entitled "careful with that axe Eugene".. a lot of effects, tones, and sounds used in many of their sons were strapped together in this one... kinda wierd. This album was made from songs that were originally meant for the Wall and it's associated movie. Roger Waters pretty much took this album on his own with very little help from the band. This is sort of like the "deleted scenes" if you will from the Wall album, which I love stuff like that, the Beatles had some great "deleted scenes" and this is great too. 4/5 because it is the rejects from the Wall =)
By the time 'The Final Cut' was released in the spring of 1983, Pink Floyd was coming apart at the seams. Roger Waters announced he was leaving the band, keyboardist Richard Wright had already left, and many considered it the end of the line for Pink Floyd. Thematically, the album sounds like it could be a continuation of (or maybe outtakes from) 'The Wall', its immediate predecessor. Some even suggest 'The Final Cut' might even be more accurately considered a Roger Waters solo album, since it did not feature the full band and represents Waters' almost total control over content and execution. If you like 'The Wall' and Waters' solo albums, 'The Final Cut' will definitely be your cup of Darjeeling, but if you prefer the psychedelic/prog rock era, you would be better off passing it by.

Sounds good, the physical CD was not as pristine as expected, but plays alright.

Never paid much attention to PF before "DARK", I've started purchasing the cd's I ve never listened to. They're worth the price to hear how bad a music legend was when they started out in the 1960's I'm 64/

If you are a fan of the band, then maybe you will like it. I do, I know it's culled from other stuff and not quite a dedicated album, [from what I have read] but it is still the guys doing their thing so I would recommend a listen and you make up you mind. I think I'll listen to the album right now. :-)

Roger Waters is brilliant and if The Wall didn't prove that to you The Final Cut should. TFC reminds me a lot of Roger's solo albums but not just because it sounds like them. It is very political and it is very easy to lose track of the rest of the band...Waters completely steals the show (after all, he did write the whole thing). If you like The Wall, Radio K.A.O.S., and Amused To Death you need to own this. 5 Stars.
Great addition to collection!!
