I got the Intermediate Accounting by Donald E. Kieso, Jerry J. Weygandt, Terry D. Warfield (2006) couple of weeks ago. I decided to make an order of this book due to (1) the reasonalbe price and (2)the flexible way for me to pick up the books, which to compare with the book stores and other retailers. The school book store only offers the whole set of the intermediate accounting which is very expensive because it includes the text book, the study guide, the regestration code etc. But I only need the textbook itself. So the way I purchase online can pick up the book I only need instead of the whole set for my short-term summer classes. It is really convient for me to make an order online too. The book arrived in a great conditon. I like it very much.
The item I got, 12th ed., Vol. 1 vs. the whole book contains chapters 1-14. The book is being used in my class and in the next two classes, Intermediate Accounting I (currently in), II, and III. The book is very informative, in fact, this will be one of the books I keep for future reference once I graduate due to the information in this book, vol. 1. I would recommend the whole book (chapters 1-24/1348 pgs) or volumes 1 & 2 (I don't know if there is a 3rd volume) but this book will assist in understanding additional accounting concepts and sections of the accounting cycle. If you have to purchase a book, I would recommend keeping this book but I would also recommend purchasing used vs. new due to the difference in expense between the two. If need be even purchase the Volumes with the 2007 FASB updates in it. Either way, this would make a great edition to any new accountant's book library.Read full review
I love the explanatory language of this book. I would usually underline or highlight important points as I read....and with this book, you underline EVERY important point without highlighting the whole text. So, at the end, it is very helpful to go over the highlighted points and memorize the chapters in their entirety. This is not possible with some other textbooks where you would have to highlight just about everything to see the main point jump out at you. The only disliked feature of the book, is that it is unnecessarily extremely heavy and huge, and pricey. Also, examples are great, but then closer to the end of chapter exercises and problems, there are some problems for which there is no reference sample problem. Overall, the textbook is great
Okay, Accounting textbooks are pretty boring, but this book is very well writen and features excellent summaries at the end of each chapter, illustrations, and examples. The companion website is also a very help tool with MC and T/F Quizzes. Check out my auction for this book ~ Item number: 260113533681! I also have the problem solving survival study guide for the 12th edition & the textbook and study guide for the 11th edition (which is pretty much the same as the 12th)! Please contact me if you have any questions! I'm always happy to help!
As an accounting graduate, I sometimes have a need for reference material. I had misplaced my intermediate accounting book in a move. It became very clear to me that I would need this material going forward. What a life saver. The cost, the timing of the delivery, all just excellent. Great job guys!
