I am getting a little older and a little more particular about the things I buy but I still love the music and still try to go to Ultra in Miami during the Winter Music Festival/Conference each year. I was born and raised there and dance music has always been better there. So when I saw the Delta Heavy DVD I figured it would be like the Ultra Concert of 2004 that I have on DVD. I was under the impression that it would mirror the recording that is all over the net that was taped at the very first show in Miami at the Miami Arena. Instead its bits and pieces of live sets from all over the map during their tour of the US with MORE documentary interviews than MUSIC! That really sucks in my opinion. There are a few sets in the extras area of the DVD with some great visuals for a widescreen HDTV but otherwise a weakly produced effort! My girlfriend literally goes orgasmic when I play the mp3 version that I found floating out on the net, especially the opening 10 minutes. I bought this DVD with the hopes that I could have it in 5.1 surround and a great visual to go with it so that she could enjoy it even more. Needless to say I didn’t get what I wanted nor did she. I would not recommend this DVD unless you are just a fanatic and want anything these two great DJs put out there. I don’t blame them I blame the producers and the director of the DVD. They really dropped the ball. This reminds me of U2s Rattle and Hum except with less direct and complete performances. And I am a fanatic when it comes to U2. --- If either Sasha or Digweed or both reads this... Please, cut a brother a break; please release a studio edit of that night in Miami... It was the best dance music concert I have every been to and I love to see my girlfriend going crazy and I'd like to have a clearer version than the one that is probably a bootleg that everyone has from the net. ---Read full review
Hands down the best documentary on the electronic dance music scene ever made. It took a few years for this to hit the streets but System Recordings has done a wonderful job at putting together the music, the words, and the energy of the 2002 Delta Heavy Tour headed by the incredibly talented John Digweed and the crunked out, pin-up, man-like Sasha. Way better than Global Undergrounds DVD (which included Sasha, Dave Seaman and others) and much better than Moonshines documentary American Massive. Highly recommended. 5/5
First off, I love the music and hate that I missed this tour. I was excited to get the disc to hear this music in 5.1 Surround, and that's where I started to hate the DVD. The sound is compressed in some mystery format that won't play it as anything but 2.0, very annoying and I have never seen this before. The documentary itself is good but I buy music DVD's for the sound quality and that's where the real problem is.
Good documentary is not what we expected but it's good, he expected much of the concert Without interruption but it's okay
