I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my First Grade son's teacher. She likes to cook and owns a cat. I'm not sure if she has read the Cat Who books or not, maybe she will now. I own an earlier edition of this cookbook and love it. I have updated once already and will again when the next edition comes out. She adds new recipes as new Cat Who books come out. I have read all of the Cat Who books and it is a lot of fun to see the recipes based on the books. All of the recipes that I have tried have been really good.
I have read all the "Cat Who" books and use to dream about those dinners Quill and Polly attended at the Old Stone Mill and The Palomino Paddock in Lockmaster or when they were sampling one of Mildred's creations or Mrs. Cobb's home cooking. Ever wonder about those No-Holds-Barred burgers at The Hotel Booze in Brrr? I can't leave out Lois's Luncheonette. What's so nice about this book is that each chapter sets the stage by re-creating a particular scene from one of the books and the recipes for the dinners Quill and his companions had at that time. They don't forget food for your pampered pets, just like Koko and Yum Yum, who are the inspiration for The Cat Who books.
A WONDERFUL cookbook with lots of easy to prepare recipes. I bought 3 of these cookbooks so that I could share them. I have been reading the Cat Who books for years and now I can enjoy the great food mentioned in them, too.
I have read the entire Cat Who series of books, so I decided that the cookbook would be a nice addition to my collection. I really didn't expect too much from it, but was pleasantly surprised when I received the book. The recipes are very clearly written, with a nice mix of some old favorites, along with some very unique dishes that I am eager to try. It was well worth the money for this book.
