This series seems to be written for grammar and high school students as well as those wishing to learn Latin on their own. The series is best at helping the student to learn to sight-read Latin. The series teaches Latin by having the student study a picture and then attempt to translate. No English, no vocabulary, just the picture. Lots of repetition. This book and a vocabulary book accompanies the series in case one just must look something up. Usually not necessary. A teacher using the series probably should have this book and the vocabulary book as well. If one wishes to then go on to be able to speak and write Latin fluently I suggest the Lingua Christania series or Henle. For high school students college students and adults wishing to learn to sight read Latin I recommend the Cambridge Latin Series. Both seem to utilize the same principles.Read full review
