Tony Hawk's American Wastland is a great game. It isn't my favorite Tony Hawk game. It's just like the rest. The graphics are the same, the story mode isn't much different from the underground series. American Wastland has a lot of first for the Tony Hawk series however. No Loading screens, tricks and characters. If you are looking for a fun skateboarding game, I would suggest getting Tony Hawks Underground 2. If you have any questions about this game that I did not mention here, please contact me, I would be more than happy to answer all of your questions about this game. If I did not mention a certain detail that you would like to know, just tell me and I will add it here. If you enjoyed this review please rate is helpful! Thank You
This is my all time favorite game from my favorite series! That doesn't mean the game is great in general however. To start off the graphics and character/setting animations are a joke, I know it was 2005 but this is for a next gen console they couldn't done way better in this category. The soundtrack was awesome and definitely deserved IGN's best soundtrack of 2006 with great bands like Green Day, The Bravery, Fall out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Rise Against, and many others you'll definitely be entertained while playing this great game. The story was really good for a Tony Hawk game it was surprisingly long and made sense. A lot of the missions were extremely easy for us veteran Tony Hawk players but some offered some challenge. Classic mode brought back memories of past Tony Hawk games and levels. This was a lot harder than story mode but was short, one or the other i guess :/. Xbox Live play is fun and a nice feature that old Tony Hawk games lacked. It would've been nicer to make a party a play easier and if it had servers from different areas like PC. The game modes are very competitive, you can tell just by watching videos of people on YouTube enough said. Overall it's a great game that will keep you playing for hours, unless of course you get an RROD :( !Read full review
This game is solid. Everyone knows the tony hawk franchise, gameplay, controls, etc. So it is easy to adapt to. You can customize your character with tattoos, clothes, hairstyles, and skate gear. This is basically Tony Hawk's underground with better graphics. It's worth the money, a definite solid title.
American Wasteland is the best of the Tony Hawk's Underground series. I had it for PS2 and I just had to get it again when I switched to the Xbox 360. The story line is awesome and the characters are really unique. It is a BIG game with many things to do. The addition of the bicycle was pretty cool. The soundtrack is absolutely awesome! Many of the tasks are very easy, while others will challenge even seasoned players. if you are an achievement hunter you will enjoy this game as well. Some of the achievement are very easy and worth quite a few gamer points. Overall I recommend this game to everyone. Even if you've never played a Tony Hawk game, you will be able to catch on and enjoy it.
I love this game cause it brings back childhood memories of the tony hawk franchise that I knew growing up. If you love to skate board then you will love this game

much different feel from other tony hawk games. the voice acting is stupid but the open world plus the punk rock premise is fun to work your way through, plus you can play through some levels in the way the old THPS was set up. The creation modes are ok, but the create a park is lacking. Not a lot new there. Overall pretty decent, especially for the price you can get it at
This was easily one of my favorite childhood games and it's just as awesome as I remember! Playing it on my GAEMS Vanguard right now.

What a travesty! It had a classic mode that was reminiscent of the old Tony Hawk games we have come to know and love. That was about the only thing I liked about it. The story was terrible. The customizations was terrible. The slow-down effect is too easy to accidentally initiate. The off-the-board running system was horrible (you flip around like Crash Bandicoot and cannot grab on to a lot of ledges). On top of all of that, the sound on my disc would frequently cut out. It would begin the game normally and then stop playing music and the soundtrack for the cutscenes at random and would not work again until you restarted the game. I know that this is through no fault of my own as the game disc is flawless. I would not recommend this game to anyone. If you want a good Tony Hawk game, stick with the first one. If you want to branch out, Tony Hawk's Underground 1 is also a good choice.Read full review
most definately my favorite tonay hawk game. i had it for original xbox, then a friend broke it. now i rebought it for 360. only thing i dont like about 30 version is how to get on/off board, u press LB and RB at the same time. kind of annoying, specially when on original xbox all u had to press was the black button. and in the park editing, its a little different. anyway if u like tony hawk games then this is a must have
Don't get me wrong, I love the Tony Hawk series. But this one just seemed to fall short. I've honestly only played it for 20-30 minutes but in that short of time, I really wasn't impressed. The graphics are below average and it seems sluggish trying to get around and find places. Let me emphasize, the graphics are VERY below average. I was thinking, "come on, this is on an xbox 360! it looks like they used a playstation 1 graphics engine." Maybe it was just me or my tv but I don't think so. Maybe I have to play the game more to fall in love with it but honestly I wasn't impressed from the start.
