I bought it for about 30 dlls. because it has a small issue, but after it was repaired works good, it is not the best I ever had but it's a decent one, it decodes Dolby Digital and DTS and have a phono input too, it doesn't have pre-amp outputs but is still useable if you connect it trough the tape inputs/outputs and use the tape monitor feature. If you need a good amplifier with some extra features at not too high price this is for you.
This unit has the same issue as the unit it replaced. The center channel speaker outlet is blown. Otherwise in great condition. I will be keeping it even though it doesn’t fix my problem.

This receiver rocks!!! Watching DVD movies is better than going to the theater. Sound is crisp and clear!! This is the first Yamaha receiver I have owned but I would surely buy one again!!! Unit was like brand new.

The remote is nice. The functionality is nice. It lacks HDMI switching, but you can always use your monitor for that. It does have S-Video switching. I think basic Direct TV and most HD cable boxes have S-Video. This model has hard switching for the audio. The earlier 500 series had soft switching and there was a tiny bit of bleed-through. The radio and front buttons are very intuitive. I love the remotes for the Yamaha receivers.
