In a fit of pure nostalgia, I bought all the then newly released Space: 1999 DVD's a few years back, and found that I still loved this science fiction-adventure series. John Kenneth Muir's book is the best if not only reference book dedicated to the series, and is a pleasant read: in-depth without being over-analyzing, enthusiastic without being too nerdy and also critical enought ot point out the obvious flaws, especially concerning Year 2. I do feel the book is a bit dry and would have been more complete with anecdotes and insider-info, which must be easy to find in the many interviews from back then. But then the vintage book The Making of space: 1999 makes up for these minor faults. All in all a fine, intelligent and well-researched book if not exactly ultimate...
A very thorough guide that gives a wonderful overview of the series including the collectibles and books (authors, and publication information as well) that were written covering the many stories seen on the show as well as independently! I was very pleased with the purchase!
