I purchased Vampire Plagues: London, 1850 because I own the second and third book in the series. It is a gripping book, as well as a series, and draws you in from the very beginning. Rook's use of detail to describe the vampires and their appeal as well as their terror makes you feel as if you are right there in the story, alongside Ben, Emily and Jack. The characters are amiable and identifiable, as well as distinct in their personalities. The book may be a children's book, but it is far from cheesy, and retains its central plot until the end. My only complaint is that it leaves you hungering for more! I would recommend this book, as well as the whole Vampire Plagues series, to anyone looking for a new "vampire series" to get into. It is very different from other series, maintaining the old views on vampires, but adding a fresh twist. I know I would tremble if I ever had to face Camazotz, and the friend's adventures throughout Europe and South America keep you on the edge of your seat. A very good read, preceding the next books in the series: Paris, 1850 and Mexico, 1850.Read full review
I bought this book because I love to read vampire books! Even though it is for young adults, I did some research and the story line seemed intriguing. There was plenty of action from the very start. The author did a great job so I was happy that I bought all 3 of them London,Paris, and Mexico.I spent the next 2 days reading all three. This book was very good and I would recommend it to young and old alike.I love the twist on vampires and how they came about!
this is a great book! It is the first of a 3 book series that you MUST read! Great story about vampires.
I got these for my son, but read them before he did. They are pretty good books. Exciting till the end.
