Really good game. Puts you in the action of the life of a 'made' man. Graphics on the 360 version are a little cleaner, but not by much. A must for your OG Xbox collection.

I got this game for a steal and I’m grateful I did. I’m getting so far in the game and it’s been so nostalgic playing it. I had it on my laptop and couldn’t find it anywhere. Thank you for being to help me get back in this game.

Overall, this is a great game. It's easy to learn and fun to play. There are a variety of missions from the main storyline to the many side missions. THe contract hit side missions can get a little tedious especially later in the game when you have to drive exceedingly long distances to "off" a guy, turn around go back to the man giving the contracts and repeat the process, but the various ways they ask to kill a guy keeps the missions fresh even though essentially every hit can be over with a quick shotgun blast. One of the of the best parts of the game is going around trying to extort businesses for cash. Early in the game each business is a fight against some thugs from the other family, however, towards the end of the game you have so much respect and power that quite often the owner will give you what the money the first time you ask. The graphics and sound are quality work. Driving can be tricky, not the controls, but the car's tendency to lose control upon impact with larger items. There is the ability to create your mobster with an editor program that allows you to modify how your character will look and what clothes he will wear, assuming you have enough money for the finer clothing, during any part of the game. The many different execution styles are fun to watch from kicking a man in the chest, to the ground and blasting him in the face with your gun or simply slapping someone around with your "pimp" hand. The game has a Grand Theft Auto style gameplay, but the storyline is much better (it mostly follows the original Godfather movie). The language can be rough, but should not be a deterrent. The only downside to the game is that it is relatively short. The game can be beaten in 20-25 hours with the main storyline taking less time. gameplay 5/5 sound 5/5 controls 4/5 graphics 5/5 Overall 5/5 PS You will need to have the Godfather movie(s) on standby because you WILL want to watch them after this game for a while.Read full review
I thought this was going to be another game that ripped off Grand Theft Auto when I bought this game. It does a little, but only a little. This game, though, adds so much more. It has all the cool things from the Godfather Trilogy whether it's carrying out a hit on a rival family, paying bribes to G-Men and cops, or influencing store and hotel owners that they need your protection for a fee. You can go along with what the agenda is or you can go and try to obtain more businesses and racketeering ventures. And what's really cool about the game is that for each time you kill a member of a rival family, they keep a vendetta out on you. If you kill too many members of the same family, then a mob war starts. The only way to end the mob war (and win anyway) is to bribe a G-Men or bomb a rival business within 48 hours (time goes by rather quickly though, it's not really 48 real hours, more like 48 minutes if even that). The only gripe I had was the controls are a little goofy to get used to for a newbie when you're fighting (it kind of reminds me of Fight Night, the boxing video game). But I got used to it, and now it's no big deal at all. Dollar for dollar, there aren't too many games that are as good as The Godfather. The storyline is exceptional, and there are so many things to do. It even lets you create yourself as a crime thug (I'm a longhaired hippie and it won't let me have long hair-minor bummer) and you work yourself up the family ladder. I bought 24: The Game and thought that game was pretty good, but that almost stinks when compared to this game. I liked the storyline on 24, but the options and gameplay on The Godfather are much much better, it's just way more fun (sometimes too fun, real time hours go by too fast when you play this game, warning to significant others). I reviewed 24 a couple months ago and now I wish I hadn't given it such a good review after playing this game. If you're a fan of the Godfather Trilogy, you'll absolutely love this game. If you're not familiar with the series (I would say "If you're not a fan", but that would be absurd. I mean if you're reading this, you can't dislike the movies unless you just dislike Godfather 3), you'll get to be a character in the movie but in game form. Parents should be cautioned with this game. It's violent and the language might not suit young ears. Otherwise, I know you'll love this game. It's unique gameplay and storyline will give you hours and hours of enjoyment.Read full review

Graphics: 8/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Sound: 9/10 Controls: 8/10 Story: 10/10 Overall: 9/10 Summary: The Godfather the game is an awesome game where New York City in the 1940'-50's is recreated perfectly and you are a mobster, working your way up the ranks of the Corleone crime family. This is a GTA style game, (with more realistic graphics and is based on one of the best movie trilogies of all time) so expect to see a lot of similarities between the two. Cons: Lets start with the bad stuff first, since there are already enough reviews raving about the pros of this game. Most people consider this a copy of GTA, and I have to agree that this game was based heavily on the idea of the grand theft auto games. There are very few car types, Micheal Corleone doesnt look or sound very much like Al Pucino at all, Building interiors were re-used, the game is short, and the game is too easy with no difficulty levels. I think that just about covers the cons of this game. Pros: The graphics are great, with even greater looks promised for the Xbox 360 version of the game. The game closely follows the storyline of the movies, with you doing most of the things that Micheal Corleone does (they couldn't get Al Puchino to let them use his voice or apperance =P, however, Puchino is doing the Scarface game, which I think looks extremely promising). There are plenty of awesome upgradeble weapons, dozens of ways of executing people, rising through the ranks of the Family, a completely massive, open, and explorable New York City WITH NO LOADING AREAS! You can walk from one side of the city to the other, entering every building on the way and exploring everywhere and everything and NEVER have to load anything at all. If you love the movies and/or the Grand Theft Auto series, this game is a must have. It still is even if you don't like either of them actually LOL.Read full review

If you've ever played Grand Theft Auto, any version of it, you'll know that there was a lot of manhours, effort, and passion went into making such an electronic masterpiece. The Godfather Xbox Game seems to have tried to replicate this and, for marketing purposes only, base it on the classic Trilogy, "The Godfather." Some corporate big shot probably thought it was a very lucrative idea to make such a game. While the graphics are decent, the game gets boring, monotonous, and very repetitive. You don't have the freedom to go wherever and do whatever you want. This game was obviously just to make money. It was very shoddily put together, with no reverence whatsoever. It is worth renting, just to try it out... but don't waste your money and buy it.
i don't know about anybody else but i straight up love this game thought it was good beat it the other day great missions mob hit, guns selection but expensive like what and taking over businesses and the fact that they got the real voices for some of the characters made the game went up a bit more in my book... Since where in the making movies in to games thing now i think "GOODFELLAS" would make for a good game what do u think?
Love the game
