Dated But Memorable Overall Account of the American Revolution
I know this series is super dated, but it has stuck with me since I saw it back in 2000. I particularly remember hearing about Joseph Plumb Martin and thinking how amazing it was to have such a good first hand account of the Revolutionary War from the perspective of a soldier. The interviews with historians do make the series look dated by today's production standards (and a few of the haircuts), but since most of the series shows historical paintings or maps, it's only the interviews that look dated. I definitely learned a lot that I had either forgotten from history class or perhaps never learned in the first place. It's interesting to also see brief references to people like Alexander Hamilton and John Andre in light of more recent media that has featured them more prominently. History Channel did a subsequent series called The Revolution, which I also liked, but these days History Channel doesn't cover much history. I like to watch a series like The American Revolution around July 4th to remind me that American independence was not at all guaranteed and our government, while easy to complain about now, was unheard of at the time.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
