The book provides an intricate analysis of social policies created since the early days of the republic. It analyzes contemporary social problems and explains the policies that have been created as a result. Its focus on populations at-risk provides valuable knowledge to those advocating for social justice. The writing style is interesting and makes it easy to follow.
I bought this for a social welfare/social work policy class in college. It's your basic textbook looking at social welfare policies in american government. Its interesting and informative, but the chapters are kinda long and can be boring. Not bad though. Good for a class like this.
This is a really tough read. If you are looking for a history on social welfare policy that is easy to read, I suggest "From Poor Law to Welfare State" by Tratner.
I like it because it is easy to read. I was impress on the contruction of the book. I bought it for school.
Never got the book, was never reimbursed. I was basically ripped off. They are crooks!!!! I needed this book because it was a textbook for one of my classes. These people never even responded to my emails.
