First off this is a tactical Shooter, not a FPS. So, if you want a FPS this is not your game. Although it cannot compete with some of the more refined tactical shooters (certainly not any next gen ones) this game is a solid buy for the going prices and is a good addition to any collectors library. First off the good 1. I liked the end level rating system - it rated your use of various categories (marksmanship, loyalty, efficiency, etc) - I found myself wanting to get a good report card throughout the missions! (As I said in my FSWTH review - They tied these ratings to upgrades! Yes!) 2. Tied to #1, good performance (average two or more stars per level out of 4) gets you enough stars to buy upgrades (unlock weapons, improve attributes, extra ammo or medical kits). ****spoiler**** 3. Moderate level variation (you get to control a .50 cal while driving in a convoy) and have a fare amount of weapons at your disposal (over the course of the whole game not on each level). 4. Decent length. You will not breeze through this one without using all of your skills (grenades, flash bangs, NVGs). 16 levels of Somali warlords that love to spill your blood (try hard mode, go on see if your man enough) 5. I paid $7.48 for it (at eBay) 6. The darn warlords are not easy to kill, they roll around like monkeys and enjoy doing a two step right past you. Thankfully your teammates are a better shot than you and miss nothing. 7. A few nice touches, such as the ability to shoot out a light, and a flash bang would blind you if you got to close with NVGs, competent team mates (if you hesitated they would literally clear all the enemy), the ability to have a teammate re-supply your ammo and health) Now the bad 1. It was a bit short, but what do you expect for less than $10 2. Soundtrack that was only so-so (where was the local music that was so nicely integrated in the film? 3. With 2 bad and 6 good this game gets a 78% or an 8/10. It is not worth playing if you are a serious shooter critic, but if you want to experience a tactical "trainer" it may be a bit of fun. An erie sound track is playin on a few levels, but other than that not much in the way of sound effectsRead full review
Even if your not a fan of run and gun games this is a good one. The main game is good and will keep you bessie for a while. The in game grafics are not going to win any game of the year awards but the game play and missions arn't bad. Where this game shines is on-line. There are up to 32 players in a room. The interface is easy to understand. No hopping in and out of vehicles though. You'll have to hot-foot it everywhere. This isn't to bad considering that the boards arn't to large. Ease of play and different game modes make this game fun to play on-line. Your game modes are team death match, death match, capture the flag, flag ball, team and team tag, and team king of the hill. Just watch out for ceap SOB's that will M203, claymore, Hand grenade, and rocket launcher the boards till thay crash.Read full review
Reviewer's age: 27 It's hard to find good online multiplayer games for the PS2. This one is ok, and kind of fun. I didn't have as much fun with this as the original PC version. This game didn't get rave reviews from me because of the in-ability to have 2 players online. It only allows one player per console, no split-screen. That is a major flaw. I have 2 playstation 2's on wireless internet for games like this.. so I can play my friends when they are over.. but it should not have to be this way. This game doeasn't even come close to Battlefield 2 Modern Combat for PS2. Rather than supporting or urging change, have moved on to newer games. However, this game has great potential. Why can't they change their server progamming oneday to add an extra item or gun?? The best idea for these games are two combine the online aspect of the game, no matter what console, to be able to play together. Ie. Xbox users, able to play the same game against PS2 users. They could work this out on their server sides.. The game to do that, will be the game of the future. ALmost every hit game is released for all the consoles.. they just keep us segregated online. We all got controllers, and headset options.. I don't see what the big deal is. Xbox could still charge their users, and PS2 remain free.Read full review
I like PS2 platform games because there are so many choices! Black Hawk Down is a good balance of shooter gaming skills to add to any collection...it is all out mayhem from the get go!!! I purchase most games to collect as well as play! Fast action play from the time you push the start button...also extremely captivating! Hard to stop until you finish the story line!
If you enjoyed "Blackhawk Down",the first Delta Force game, you will like this second one well. The first one is my favorite combat game I have played. It is so fast and intense and you really have to think on your feet. All this applies to "Team Sabre"also.I like the new way of issuing commands a lot better than the first one.The direction pointer is better. The set up with briefings is really an improvement.I like the fact that you buy skills with your award stars. My favorite improvement with the new one is a generous number of armories that exist on each level. You can keep your ammo supply up or change primary weapons as the situation changes. That is really the jewel in the crown for this game. I would not recommend this game to someone that does not own the first one.If you own the first and like it,I can recommend this one highly. If you don't own the first, find one on Ebay along with this game and you will have the two coolest infantry combat games I know off.Read full review
I bought this game as a present for a friend who has not stopped playing it as of yet. It has brought much pleasure, happiness and endless hours of entertainment, I highly reccommend it for those who love action games for its great graphics and shoot 'em up style. Plus it can be played over the internet so branching out with friends to play across the nation always makes the game new and exciting every time.
What I saw was this game is a war setting although unlike other game out there this game has less graphic violence than most. A bit of history that is near the book facts. Notmet for a history lesson but intertainment. Not really anything to dislike about the game, good bang for the buck. My son found this game thru a demo and like this game. After reviewing for myself I purchased it for him
Well, have not heard any complaints. I guess the boys like it. Bought it because my boys played the game at a friend's. I don't care for it my self because I have to monitor the time they spend on game. For me, my time can be spent more wisely. What ever happened to the good old days when children desired to be outdoors? Nothing wrong with game itself, but it is important for parents to be responsible and monitor the time spent on PS2.
You like war simulation games (ghost recon, navy seals). I liked the weapons, but still are not able to unlock some of them yet. The game also could have been longer, I found myself wanting more missions, I liked the game and would reccomend it highly, but my favorites are still the first two medal of honer games (Frontline, and Rising sun) and Call to duty 1 and 2.
You are thrown into the middle of the conflict that took place in Somalia, 1993. Graphics are good (not excellent, but good), great shooter game. 16 Missions but seemed like less. It ended way too soon so I will be playing this one again to see what I missed. Must play for the "war games" junkie player like myself.
