Powers of Ten is a fabulous book based on the original film from Charles and Ray Eames, the prominent design couple for the 20th centuty. It takes the observer through the edge of the universe, to the Earth, to Chicago from the air, down to an atom in the hand of a sleeping man out on a picnic nap, one photograph at a time. Each cardstock page shows a photo, enlarged by 10 times each following page. This is an excellent resource when teaching how things change when zero is added to the end of a number, which is the reason I bought it. I plan on having my 2nd graders use jewelers' loupes to investigate common items by the power of 5 and 10 to increase their skills of observation. Or if you just like optical challenges, it is delightful to look at. I love love love it, and highly recommend it for a great coffee table book as well!Read full review
