Doctor Who is a BBC production that spans from the Late 1960' thru ,, well now. The main BBC series ran thru 1989 and "The Doctor" was played by several actors. The show ended then but in 2005(?) it was restarted and can now be seen on the SciFi channel Friday Nights and BBCAmericia on Saturday evening. Jon Pertwee stars as the Doctor in this title from 1973. He played the Doctor from 1970 - 1974 with great skill and that funny "Dry British Humor" that makes you smile yet,, when he or one of his friends is in danger you know it and start sitting on the edge of your chair rooting for him to come thru and save the day. Jon Pertwee handed a special flair to his shows with the coolest car I have ever seen. This car is not in all the episodes as it is on earth only so when he is off world visiting another planet it stays behind. He also added several other "Hi-Tec" gadgets. This is why, if pressed I must admit he is my favorite Doctor. If Not pressed then I debate between Him and Tom Baker. Hmm Patrick Troutan is also good,, and Colon Baker,, and Peter Davison,,, and well watch the shows and you decide They make a good addition to a Great Video Library!! Thru the years different actors played the Doctor because as a Time Lord the Doctor can regenerate his body. Each time the Doctor regenerates a new actor takes his place. In Tom Bakers (1974 -1981) last show he changes into Peter Davison (1982-1984) is so touching you almost want to cry,, yet feel wonder at just how Peter Davison will handle next years new season. I enjoy this entire series because of thrilling SiFi action and special effects PLUS the fact I can show it to my grandkids and not worry about adult content. We first got "hooked" on The Doctor series by watching it on a PBS Station in Florida and became a regular watcher and member for years. One thing to remember about this series, the special effects change and improve as the years past. Just like Star Wars episodes 4, 5, and 6's special effects are not as "fancy" as Episodes 1, 2, and 3. So Please judge Doctor Who by the years filmed and not by todays computer generated special effects. Cuddos go to BBC special effects people for pioneering TV special effects!! Please watch and have some clean FUN with all members of your family!! Thanks for reading this.Read full review
I am personally a Whovian. sure there are Star Wars fans, and Star Trek fans, but I have always found Doctor Who to be the greatest of them all, especially with over 15 years of episodes to watch. here is a time Lord with the power to do anything he wants, and he goes around the galaxy saving the universe, and his pet people us earthlings as well. of course the quality of action is not what you expect in today's movies, but overall these are some great classics and I suggest you add them to your archive today, and help the tradition continue.
