Awesome Book
This is truly a great value for the price. I had this book about 25 years ago, and lost it. Then I saw it in the possession of someone else and I was reminded of how informative that this book is. It was my first book that I read on deliverance. This is not a book to be read by those who are spiritually prepared by the Holy Spirit to read it's content. Many Unanswered Questions
PIGS IN THE PARLOR is interesting and for most of us, a description of a “ministry” that is almost other worldly. It leaves a lot of questions unanswered, leading one to doubt the information and techniques that it embraces. Much of the information in the book about demons is derived from the experience of the authors and of others in deliverance work. How do we know whether it is reliable? Demons are deceivers. Although one can claim that his experience parallels that of a Bible passage, there is no assurance that he can extrapolate a whole principle about demonology from it, like having to call a demon by name. Why can’t the Gospel itself deliver someone once and for all, so that there is then no more need for a deliverance worker? Indeed, are the Hammonds and those like them a special priesthood? Why is there so little instruction about exorcism in the epistles? And why does the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19, 20) and Paul’s instruction to Timothy (2 Timothy 2:24-26) not mention exorcism (nor even healing)? There are definite things in here that are really helpful and some that are dated and/or controversial. I used the book in the late 80's early 90's as a self deliverance book, which led to MANY deliverances for Many people. Love and can't be without it!
Tho we wrestle not against flesh but against the spirit realm. We must always remember this. When my friend's daughter is rebelling I can always guide her to know it's not her daughter but what she is fighting with inside herself. It's a deeper concept of raising kids and associating with people that have no idea about evil that they are battling on a daily basis.
