Some girls were paired with laotongs, "old sames," in emotional matches that lasted throughout their lives. One of my favorite books!
This story is about 2 friends that go through life changing events. The first time I read it, I was still in high school, and it was hidden in a corner of the library nobody went to. The cover added a bit of mystery, and as I read the description, I had never heard of bound feet before. So I checked it out once. Twice. A third time.
