SynopsisAfter discovering the double identity of the wealthy Transylvanian nobleman, Count Dracula, a small group of people vow to rid the world of the evil vampire
We`ve all seen the movies; good, bad and campy. But, until you`ve read the original you haven`t experienced the complete Dracula. I read it 20 years ago after many years of knowing the story. Nothing prepared me for the great writing. All of the characters are fully developed in a way that the movies can`t. I`m re-reading it again after having just completed Bram Stoker`s great grand nephew`s sequel to the original. I applaud the effort but it doesn`t hold a candle by comparison. This novel has held up to all the pretenders for over one hundred years. It wasn`t a commercial success right away but, then, neither was Moby Dick. The subject and the lurid descriptions had to be scandalous at the end of the Victorian era and it was. See if this horror classic doesn`t hold up to the best writing in this or any other genre.
