This book is a nostalgic reflection for me of my own visit to Fort Jefferson many years ago, with Dr. Richard Mudd and a few of his grandchildren. Mudd's own grandfather was Sam'l Mudd, imprisoned at the lonely outpost from 1865-1869 for setting the broken leg of Lincoln's escaping assassin. This book captures in magnificent color the grandeur of the old fort in its magnificent setting in the Dry Tortugas, off the coast of Florida. Its a breathtaking book, and the copy I bought on ebay was not expensive and is in great condition. It's a wonderful addition to my personal Lincoln library.
