If you wish to live life and not for death, then this is the book for you. Ayn Rand explains the principle that has been destroying the world and the USA for a long, long time. This is my third reading and I read it when I want to feel as if there are people out there who believe as I do.

Atlas Shrugged is a book first published in 1957, but it is a book for today. The theme of the book is about the individual in a capitalistic society. Add to that the idea of power and control of large corporations connected to the center of government. It is about ruthlessness and greed. Absolutely a good read for today. Ayn Rand felt that this book encapsulated her ideas better than any other she wrote. Both "Atlas Shrugged" and "Fountainhead"(whose main character is based on Frank Lloyd Wright) have remained topical and controversial titles.I highly recommend both books as well as the recent biography on Ayn Rand by Anne C. Heller.
It's a long book don't get me wrong, it seems intimadating but I haven't been able to put it down! All I knew about it before I opened the cover was that it was a classic and about socail Darwinism. The writing is fantastic and the story is more than compelling. I highly recommend it.
