Let’s talk grading for a second. Excuse the rant, but slabbing comics is the biggest scam in the history of collecting. I know several major dealers who have sent in big ticket books, been disappointed with the grade, unslabbed the books, resubmitted them, and got a different grade that was more to their liking.
SynopsisThe book that uncovers the dark underside of Peoria, Illinois, from the world-famous writerPhilip Jose Farmer, one of the greatest living SF writers who has published many varieties of pulp fiction, turns his hand to the detective novel, with violent results. A self-obsessed private detective married to a sincere Wiccan is hired to witness an illegal transfer of money in a cemetery that goes bloodily wrong. Chasing the bad guys, he ends up the prisoner of a gruesome threesome in their Dogpatchy cabin in the woods. His escape involves nudity, death, and a terrible snapping turtle. That's how the mystery begins, leading him through all the levels of Peoria society, geography, and history. No violence is left out. Greed, venality and hatred are unleashed. All the sex is offstage. Nothing Burns in Hell is pulp fiction at its most excessively gorgeous.
Local author. Very happy to have a good addition to my library. Fun and funny. Enjoyable read. With some tongue in cheek humor to go along with the noir theme.
