Had to remove nearly 30 year old wallpaper in a small half bath, so I bought the Wagner hoping it would shorten the time spent in the laborious task of doing so. Not so sure it did. Oh, it eventually would soften the paper enough to remove but not without having to go back over the same small area several times. The outer paper could often be removed fairly easy but the paper adhering to the wall took forever to scrape off. Some spots fairly easily but others took multiple passes with the Wagner and only in small bits and pieces despite the fact I well scored the paper ahead of each pass with the Wagner. Not sure just using a large sponge with hot water wouldn’t have worked just as well.
This steamer made it easy to remove the top layer of the wallpaper because I could remove it in big pieces. The bottom layer came out easily when I sprayed a lot of water on it. I didn't scratch my Sheetrock wall, either. For that reason alone, I think it is worth the extra expense.
