As mid-priced micro red dots go, this is probably at the top of the list. Although it lacks the 32 MOA circle of the HS507C X2 (it just has the 2 MOA dot), it is also a good bit cheaper and it retains all the other features that make these models so effective. From the aluminum body, solar power system, shake-awake, side access to the battery, RMR footprint, auto adjust/manual adjust/lock-out brightness settings, glass lens and screaming bright dot, there's no other micro dot that comes close. My old eyes have some stigmatism so the dot is a bit blurry for me, unless I turn it way down, however, because of the 2 MOA size, it is still very effective. My one complaint is also considered by some to be a positive attribute, that is the size of the buttons. They are low profile and therefore not easy to bump accidentally, however they are rather small and close together, making it difficult for me to turn off (it requires pushing both buttons at the same time to accomplish this). I've though about making a little aluminum tool to do this at the range. Perhaps there are already 3D printed tools out there to do this (hint, hint). If there was one more item that I'd want included in the package, it would be a picatinny adapter for mounting the dot to handguns and rifles with that feature. My 407C is mounted to a Ruger Mark4 22/45 suppressed pistol. I found an inexpensive adapter on Ebay for $20 that did the trick. I'm sure that Holosun could add one that wouldn't appreciably affect the price. When we start talking about duty and carry guns that I must stake my life on, I go with the best available, in my case that's a Trijicon RMR. That doesn't mean that others don't use this dot for that purpose, it's just too new to me for me to place that kind of faith in. YMMV. All in all, well worth the price of admission. BTW, I have the HS507C X2 as well. It's going on a range gun that will be used for some informal competition. Time will tell how durable these dots are, but based on what I've seen so far, it looks promising!Read full review

The Holosun RMR is Around $200.00 less than the Trijacon brand has even more features like the solar panels no other brand has that plus shake to wake, adjustable dot, you name it the Holosun RMR has it all and more! I’ve been waiting for the price to come down and has so I jumped on it!

Solid product. It only took 6 shots to zero, ran another 150 rounds through it and hasn’t budged. The “shake to wake” feature is great, I’m pretty sure I’m a long way form an expired battery, but this feature can only help.

Mounted the sight to my handgun, zeroed it in and it performed flawlessly...until it stopped. It got to where after every shot it would turn off. No "shake awake" or anything, except off. I installed a new battery and woop woop!. Back in business! Holds zero, turns off after 10 mins. Shake awake. Perfect. This is now my "go to" handgun. it stays on my nightstand at night and i have confidence it will turn on if I need it during the night, giving me quick target acquisition. It's my best range gun since it's so easy to get on target quickly. I love this sight and highly recommend.

This is the original style HS407C which takes the CR2032 and is mounted on the bottom, which I prefer. Some don't like this arrangement as it requires removing the sight to change the battery. However, when you consider the CR2032 is rated for 225 mAh vs the CR1632 130 mAh in the newer model HS407C, that's almost double the life. With auto-shutoff and solar backup, I doubt I'll have to replace this battery before 5 years are up. Another consideration with the newer model is the battery tray, while being more accessible, has a very iffy o-ring arrangement that is stretched sidways and looks flaky at best, not the way o-rings are designed to work. This model has a straightforward round cover with o-ring the way it was designed to work. Consider that the Trijicon RMR also has the battery on the bottom. Enough said about that. The only issue I had with this red dot is at first I could not get the brightness to work, but after repeatedly pushing the + and - buttons, all of a sudden it lit up and has been working perfectly ever since. I had the same issue with a Sig Romeo 5 once. Out of the box, at first the dot would not come on, then eventually it did and never had an issue since. Also nice that Holosun includes extra locktited screws. All in all I'd say that for the price, I prefer one of these to the Trijicon RMR, which at 2.5x the price, comes with a tritium illuminated dot that will burn out eventually. Read full review

For a sub $250 optic, you can’t beat holosun! Picked up the 407c for $239. Glass is clear, dot is crisp, buttons give good feedback, solar panel great, sturdy aluminum construction, and adjustments give you clicks so you can properly adjust. Some people don’t like the smaller 2moa dot because it can be harder to acquire on follow up. For me it works because I like pinpoint accuracy and it forces you to practice good mechanics. Would have picked up the 507c but didn’t want to spend an additional $70-80 for the added circle around the reticle. If you’re on the fence about holosun, just get it! They also have good warranties on their products.

I went with the 407 because this red dot is just a dot verse the circle reticle in the 507. This optic also has the shake to wake, so the red dot activates when the pistol is drawn.

Hooked up my Holosun red dot to my Glock 26. Red dots doubles your speed to acquire your targets. The Holosun’s structure is the best for strength and reliability. Battery life is fantastic getting as much as 50,000 hours on one battery. No need to take the red dot off your weapon to replace the battery. AMAZING QUALITY!

I an putting RMR's on every pistol I can...I have bought a half dozen brands from Trijicon to cheap-o. These Holosuns are a deal, this is the second I've bought. If Chy-na was my friend, it would be a five.

I have these mounted to AR's, handguns and shotguns. I've run them HARD and thry hold up well. How hard? I routinely (2x a week or so) use my G19 milled to take an RMR to teach with. I beat the snot out of it against partitions, barricades and tables teaching alternate clearing methods and its never skipped a beat (locl tite your screws though). I frankly prefer these over the Trijicons.
