For years I own a Huskvarna trimmer which came with the typical plastic rope line, but had a simple steel cutter head. I eventually gave the Huskvarna to a friend; not because it had a problem. I just got too old to handle it. I got suckered into the "buy cheap" mode. Ryobi has a package deal on most products where they give you the battery free, with the mower. Looks good until you have to use it. If you want to use the cutter head. The basic model provides 2 heads: they do not have a blade replacement capability. Also the plastic blades wear out very quickly. Ruined after one days work. So the base Ryobi trimmer eats cutter parts very fast. I can't compare the more expensive trimmers in the Ryobi line. I never saw steel cutter pieces on any of them.

I have not figured out how to attach this to my Ryobi line trimmer. I don't even know how to get the line head off of it. I suppose I will have to dig up my owner's manual somewhere to figure this out. I tried searching for Youtube videos on this without success. No instructions were included to tell me how to perform this procedure.

The concept seems good but they used cheap plastic pieces to hold the whole thing together... Right out of the package I did maybe 40-50feet along my back fence and the white plastic pins that hold in the blades both disintegrated. So now I have a half dozen brand new blades and no way to use them. Stupid. At the very least the pin should have been made of metal

not sure if will hold up on thick weeds like star thistle but i aim to find out if the plastic can pass the test!
