Its out of date so obviously I can't recommend it and any newer core rule book's rule changes override these rules. This particular book smells awful, whatever happened there, really should have been noted in the description. Other than that everything else went well and it is what it should be.

Plain and simple, it's a core book. Essential information, charts, tips, example's throughout. Very useful book. Many magical item and artifacts toward the end of the book; I think, included, for adventuring ideas. If you want a list of items and such, get arms and equipment guide and magic item compendium. I used to do alot of ad&d'ing back in HS, and the newer D&D is pretty much the same and or better. Get it, love it, enjoy it :)

I had assumed this the least important of the three core rule books so my campaigns went on without it for a few months. After having got this book it has changed my campaign to be much more organized, creative, and fun. I find myself referencing this book much more than any other. If you are running an adventure without this book than you are missing out on what your campaign is truly capable of.
Helps the Dungeon Master with Hit Points and special Items, ect, a monster can have or do. Has all the info for making adventures, villons, traps, ect. Kinda hard to follow if you don't know what you are doing, but it is something you should get if you want to play more then a couple games. Great help Book.
