I had this item before and it worked for a long time so I guess is durable. What is good about it is that it has the batteries accessible from the top so if the batteries die and it gets stuck on the can you just put new batteries and it keeps going. It cuts the can on the side nice and clean.

It does not make a clean cut of the lid but instead it makes a crinkled cut leaving it likely to get cut with. It actually cuts just below the lid so you can't put the lid back if you wanted to save the contents for later in the can. It was easy to operate but makes a bad cut even far down enough to actually cut into the label part of the can. Sorry i bought it.

I have been a Designer most of my life and appreciate it when a product 1. is designed with moving parts that are quality and sturdy, 2. not only do their job but, do it well and 3. have a good warranty. This item fills the bill!

You see them on t.v. and they look like the answer but, they're not. They jam up and take a lot of prodding to open a can. I finally bought a regular electric can opener and have learned my lesson. I'm sure there must be a quality to this product but, I didn't find it.
