This album brings back fab memories for me so I'm bound to be quite positive about it. I had not heard it for 20 odd years and was surprised at how much of it I could remember (word for word).I think this is a sign of good material. It does sound anachronistic but the strength of the songs pull it through nicely.Just buy the damn album.
Robert Plant, one of the best.

having bought this in 1983 on vinyl and seeing plant for the 1st time live i had forgotten how good the album was
The stakes were high when Plant went solo. We all expected him to reproduce everything that Led Zep had done- and then some. What he did was entirely consistent - he changed track - as Zep had done at every opportunity (Listen to any 2 Zep albums and tell me they were recorded on the same planet) PoM forged a new direction, which we took time to come to terms with. "Big Log" was the single which we all bought, simply because it was Plant. You have to listen to the whole CD of new beginnings to get to it - and all Zep fans have their faves from the other tracks, which are all Zep, but never Zep, in the same way every album was before ... remember that "Stairway To Heaven" was wo un-Zep when it appeared! Keep the flame burning, Percy! I must go and listen to the Honeydrippers....
its great robert plant
