Madden NFL 97 includes 99 NFL teams, past and present. During each game John Madden and Pat Summeral provide color commentary. The game also makes use of QSound Virtual Audio, developed by QSound Labs Inc., in order to provide more realistic sounds. Modes of play include Exhibition, Tournament, and Full Season. During season play James Brown describes the best match-ups of the week before each game. After the season ends players can go to the Pro Bowl and see which of their players were selected.<br><br>Over 60 player and team stat categories are tracked. A large number of plays are available for both offense and defense.
