We have an Electrolux hybrid cooktop, half radiant half induction. It works really well but we hadn't been sure about induction. Now we wanted to jump in and get a full induction cooktop. I thought the Empava sounded perfect. Particularly the burner sizes. Unfortunately this cooktop is very bad in ways I didn't realize a cooktop could be bad. The difference between the Electrolux and this cooktop is huge. This device is not worth it. 1) The biggest issue. Empava advertises their main burner to be 10". This is deceptive at best. As shown in the associated photo, this burner is no more than 6". They simply draw a BIG circle around a tiny burner and call it a 10" burner. Not cool. I'm not sure any of the burners in the cooktop are really any bigger than 6". Its just the drawn circle size that changes. In the picture you can see water boiling in a 12" pan (with 10" base) only in a small tight circle at best 6" across. On our Electrolux, the entire bottom of the pan would be boiling on its 10" burner. This is completely deceptive and unacceptable. It's scary as well that this cooktop seems to be sold under many different brand names such as Forno, True Induction, etc.,, and sold through many reputable outlets. 2) Another issue with this cooktop is the evenness of heating. Induction cooktops typically have a max burner power output, then modify the generated square wave shortening the on portions to reduce power. But at some point the power amplifier can't make the on portion any shorter. Induction cooktops at low power settings then resort to turning the burner on and off for seconds at a time. Our Electrolux does an on/off cycle in about 2-2.5 seconds. Thats fairly quick and most cookware will even out the temperature change so you don't notice it. The Empava however does an VERY long 10 second cycle. At low power it may be on for 1 second at 1000 watts when off for 9 seconds. 1000 watts is a lot. Enough that even 1 second of 1000 watts can be enough to start food boiling. The end result is an inability to simmer without burning or boiling. Again, decent induction cooktops cycle on and off more frequently with great temperature control that can be used even to melt chocolate. Not this cooktop. 3) The third main issue, somewhat similar to the second. With induction technology its fairly simple to generate high power. All manufacturers make a big deal about how fast you can boil water. But the technology makes that very simple. The hard part is reducing that power. Most cooking isn't done at a raging boil. Its often levels of simmering. The 9 power levels of this cooktop are spaced in a way that does not make sense. Maybe as a developer it made sense, not for someone cooking. The Forno equivalent cooktop lists actual watts for each power level. The Empava seems to match it fairly well. Ideally power levels should keep increasing at a similar rate. However the Empava does not. As an extreme example, on the smallest burner, power level 1 = 100 watts, while level 3 = 300 watts. Going from power level 3 is 300% as much as power level 1, or 200% additional power. However going from level 6 (1000 watts) to level 8 (1200) watts is only 20% more power. The end result is a bunch of power levels which in practice are almost the same, and almost no ability to control low power simmering. The end result is that it is very difficult if not impossible to do a good job of low power simmering. By the way, there's also a problem with L or keep warm setting. On our cooktop, this results in a fast boil for ~5 seconds then off for 5. Its MUCH higher setting than 1, or even 2. More like 3 or 4. Seems like a firmware bug. Other comments, The cooktop looks nice, but looks are deceiving. Each burner has its own fan which is pretty noisy. Get them all going and its quite a racket. Again I didn't realize this would vary much between models. Our new Frigidaire is completely silent, no fans at all, at low power settings. And when the fans do kick in, its barely audible. Construction looks like it is not meant to be repairable. The glass top is apparently sealed or the metal base and cannot be easily removed. Further background: The cooktop we received had the glass top cracked during shipment. This did not affect its performance. It was fully functional but we returned it. We ended up buying an prior model Frigidaire induction cooktop. It performs similar to our Electrolux (same company) except with 4 induction burners. Very happy with it and definitely worth the extra money.Read full review

Great value. The cooktop works very well. Heats up quickly and is well designed. If you're in the market for an induction cooktop at a reasonable price, this hits the mark. I would have given it a 5 🌟 rating but I'm not impressed with the lack of warranty information. There is no written documentation relating to warranty. When I called company I was told that a document doesn't exist but warranty is for two years. No details. - rather sloppy. Hopefully unit holds up.

This may be the best deal on eBay works great and priced right. I am very pleased I bought this. It is an induction cook top so my old pans did not work. I knew this and was pleased to buy a new set of induction cookware and donate the old cookware. Relieved the clutter in the cabinet.
