As stated in the description this fan unit takes up three rack spaces and that would be true if the holes in the face of it were drilled in the correct rack mounting locations. If you want it to fit in the three rack space that it's supposed to you will have to drill your own holes which will make it work or you will 1/4" gap at the bottom and another 1 1/2" gap at the top between your gear. You can leave it as is and it will actually occupy 4 rack spaces or you can drill the holes where they should be to make it fit. In my opinion either way it looks screwed up. The fan works but if you care about the way your rack looks I wouldn't buy it.
