I remember the music from my early youth, and I wanted to hear it again. It's a very strange album (and a very strange film also) but if you like Queen...
Use it to keep a record of my daughter's latest dance show, she practices regularly with it and then it is used for me to remember all those yaers ago
Obviously this was never destined to be Queen's finest moment on record, mainly as the material on show here was prepared and recorded for the soundtrack for the 1980 smash hit movie 'Flash Gordon'... The fact the band had such a massive hit with the single 'Flash' (and it's accompanying video) gave an extra element of expectation when the album was released. It actually works on several levels. The use of film dialogue between and during the corresponding tracks, works a treat, and with several of the tracks being top drawer Queen compositions, then the success was never in any real doubt. Certainly not an essential purchase by any means, but worth adding to your Queen collection, either for completists or to remind yourself of the sheer absurdity of the original film now 30 years old... ++++Read full review
Not one for the general fan. It is a soundtrack album and is only worth buying if you absolubtly love the film. The album contains different tracks that make up the music that was used during the film and it is intercut with speech etc from the film. Only two tracks contain lyrics - Flash and The Hero, these tracks in themselves are alright but the rest of the album is not worth listening to - and it is only half an hour long anyway.
