I was blessed to have been raised a book-reader. This is still my absolute favorite childrens' book.
I was given this book the year it was first published, when I was 8 years old. I loved it then, and love it still. What a charming, delightful story, and what wonderful illustrations! This was a library book and it is in near perfect condition except tiny dog ears pages 56 to 60. Library bound books with thick beautiful pages are meant to be handled and loved! The jacket has a waterproof protector and will remain intact with the illustration of Homily Pod and Arrietty on front cover.
