93/After having owned and listened to the "Essential Jimi Hendrix" I found this 'greatest hits' collection quite refreshing. The best part of "Essential, Vol.1" was the information written inside the album cover. I believe it was Cameron Crowe who'd written it & he spoke of an interview Jimi gave on BBC television a week before Jimi was murdered (yeah, a collaboration between British Secret Service & our own FBI/CIA/NSA thugs...the same group of morons who deny a UFO crashed in July of 1947e.v. and was rushed to Roswell AFB,.... to this day our government stands behind the lie that a "weather balloon" came down....Weather balloons don't create sonic-booms! ..and there's a distinct difference between a sonic boom and thunder ). Had Jimi kept a lid on his plan to tour the world with a big top tent the size of a small stadium he might be alive today, ...with a fan-base larger than that of the Grateful Dead at their peak. Anyway, this "Ultimate" collection includes the two live performances most celebrated by this guitarist and Priest of the Sun(!)....our national anthem at Woodstock, and "Wild Thing" at Monterey. About all I'd add to this collection would be his cover of "Drummer Boy" which Jimi often played around Christmas. I miss Jimi, and my late Caliph & roomie Grady L. McMurtry (Thelema O.T.O.). ...two men who were onto something sacred dealing with color & sound...another form of language, one that could allow communication with passive 'alien' intelligences. ..Love IS the law, love under will... 93/93
