3 years after Fagen and Becker reunited on the grammy winner "Two Against Nature" they are back with more cynicism, sarcasm, loathing and musical genius. THE LAST MALL, a smooth, slow groovin' guitar tune with Donald singing is great. THINGS I MISS THE MOST, the best song on the album, in my still humble opinion, is a great song. A great bass and percussion funk/jazz song with "poor-me" lyrics, soft synth and guitar. BLUES BEACH, LUNCH WITH GINA & EVERYTHING MUST GO are good, solid efforts. GODWHACKER is great, with a fantastic bass line, excellent guitar work and perfect backing vocals. SLANG OF AGES, a rare tune sung by Becker who usually stays away from the mike, is really nice. Like a Mo-town tune morphed in to a jazz/funk experiment. Great song. GREEN BOOK has that old SD sound, slow but feels fast, a song that gets you worked up waiting for it to take off. PIXELEEN is a solid bluesy effort. A definite must have for any SD fan, but recommended for those that are new to SD as well. This follows and mixes well with their other 21st century effort, "Two Against Nature". SD has evolved musically and a lot of old school SD fans are not pleased with the new, jazzier, less rock sound, but I love the direction that SD has taken as they continue to move not-so-gracefully in to mid-life. I love it!Read full review
Another great Steely Dan album. The sound was crystal clear, very nice.

The Dan have forsaken their rock roots.. I'm a fan of Donald Fagen but he's gone the hipster jazzy route. To be honest, the album reminds me of hipster elevator muzak. Definitely slick but boring..
