This is a fun flick... I enjoyed it because it was filmed entirely on location in Eugene, OR, using real places & real people (including myself, as an extra). It was filmed a couple years after Animal House, with another SNL alum, Jane Curtin, as well as Jessica Lange & Susan St. James. This trio comes up with a hairbrained scheme to come up with some quick cash as they're all in dire financial straits. Dabney Coleman is great as a cop, after having played the mayor of Fernwood on TV. Richard Benjamin also appears in the film. In all honesty, in giving this movie 3 stars (out of 5), I'd probably be considered charitable, but it is worth watching, & I'm happy to have this DVD in my collection!
I remembered enjoying this one when it was first released. Watching it now, it's even more fun! If you remember how things were in 1980, you'll probably enjoy this cery much.

This movie is an excellent comedy starring Susan Saint-James, Jane Curtin, and Jessica Lange, made in 1980. Saint-James and Curtin were so successful in this movie that they were paired for the very successful sitcom series for CBS in the early eighties, "Kate & Allie". This movie involves three housewives with financial troubles and they come upon the solution of taking money from a money ball on display at the mall. The mall has made a promotional item out of the money ball and will be holding a drawing. The ladies mastermind a scheme to rob the money on the day of the drawing and the things they do in the process is pretty funny and entertaining throughout. The three ladies almost lose the money and then recover it, and they are never caught. The happy ending is that they've solved their money problems and all the other situations in their lives improve as well. This movie is great if you're a fan of "Kate & Allie" or any of the actresses' previous works. It is a nostalgic ride back to the 80's!Read full review
It was a movie of it's time period. This film took place at a time when inflation was enormously high and people did anything to get money, even if it meant stealing. Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess.

I love this movie because I live in Eugene and I was a body double extra and had scenes where I can really see myself in the money ball scene. The cast and crew were hilarious to work with and the food was first rate! Okay so we had to stay up all night while the mall we filmed in was closed but HEY, we got to hang out with the stars and have a memory non compare. Good work girls you are all as sweet as you are funny!!
