Cult Classic Film about a Dystopian Future
Classic Truffault cult film based on Ray Bradbury's 1953 book. This is an intelligent, thought provoking film that has become even more relevant today than when it was made in 1966. Although it differs in some ways from the book, this film version is a lot more faithful to it than the newer version. The film presents life in a society totally controlled by the government in which firemen, instead of fighting fires, have been sent out to burn all books in order to keep people from reading, encountering new ideas and thinking, which could result in political unrest and revolution. Mindless entertainment is provided by interactive wall units and citizens have become obedient, mindless, selfish and ignorant. Reminded Me Of What Germany Must Have Been Like Under Hitler's Rule-Scary!
I read good and bad reviews about this movie, but I enjoyed it. This film came out in the sixties, 10 yrs before George Lucas blew us away with the special effects of Star Wars. The futurist setting was above average . A fascist society were U have to hide Ur books, watch what U say to people, and a society were U can't trust friends, family, E.T.C..
