This product is a "dumbed down", informal soundtrack edited onto a portion of the terrific "Walking with Monsters", etc. series visuals. It is more humorous, upbeat, and informal for younger kids (whom they assume prefer more silliness and wish to remain ignorant as to much of the actual science). Thus, there is far less information than the main series. Even so, most any non-fiction the BBC produces is quality, and when they "film" dozens of ferocious dinosaurs there is no exception. These things sure look real and my kids love them. I should add that he DVD is, however, absolutely steeped in evolutionary thinking. (Since I took the time to actually investigate the modern creation science movement I just can't believe all that "millions of years" dogma anymore - there are just too many contrary scientific facts.) Anyway, I prefer the original three DVD BBC dino series (my kids like both), but if you just want one DVD for a very young dumbed-down dino-lover, this is the one to get. Seeing dinos march around and eat each other just as if they were alive today is terrific.Read full review
Bought the DVD for my young great-nephew who has recently discovered and has become fascinated by the world of dinosaurs. Very informative series covering a lot of educational material on specific dinosaurs, their habitat and how they lived. Excellent narration by Ben Stiller and very realistic computer animation! Loved all the information but use discretion for very young children as there are predators/carnivores along with the herbivore species. Some graphics may disturb the really young. Overall, an excellent DVD for those who share a love of Dinosaurs.
I really can't decide if it is good or average. It is a little misleading because it says 3D but the only thing that is 3D is some still shots that have very little color to them. But Ben Stiller is a good narrator of the video parts. It is interesting because it covers dinosaurs that are not the usual (T-Rex, Apotosaurous, etc). My seven year old watched most of the video and complained when we turned it off at bedtime. He wanted to watch the whole thing. For those reasons, I rank it higher.
What a joke. The fairy tales presented in this BBC psuedoscience-documentary want the viewer to believe in a evolutionist viewpoint. God is ultimately in control. Myth, fantasy and a great computer animation are all that is presented. If evolution has a chance of occurring, the viewer needs to believe in the religion of evolution!!! Look at the odds that statisticians put evolution actually occurring at? 6.24 billion billion!!! Can you say impossible?!?!?! Thank you the BBC for bringing this to our attention. You have really good computer animators but that is it! A lot of what if's don't support.....well anything. And I am a scientist. All I can say is "Thank you God!"
Not exactly what I had expected but educational at a minimum. Received in good shape and on time.
