Witowski, Palumbo and the boys from back east unite once again for this awesome double album set on CD. Originating in the early 1970's as ArcAngel, Crack The Sky was formed by founding members Rik Witowski and John Palumbo. In 1975 Rolling Stone magazine declared Crack The Sky's self titled first album the album of the year. Promotional and distribution issues prevented their widespread success. Their second album, 1976's "Animal Notes", was originally supposed to be a rock opera. Even after critical acclaim, Animal Notes wasn't commercially successful. Probably due to the conceptual nature of the album. In 1977, Palumbo left the group to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Gary Lee Chappell. Thus bringing about 1978's "Safety In Numbers". "Live Sky" was also released by this lineup of group members. By 1980 Crack The Sky had disbanded and Lifesong records released "Classic Crack", a compilation album of greatest hits by the band. Crack The Sky has been reformed several times without the critical and public acclaim the band previously enjoyed. Palumbo has since reunited the original members of Crack The Sky for the release of 2008's "The Sale".Read full review
