If you want to know what b-boying, breakdancing and real hip hop are, this movie must be a part of your collection. The Freshest Kids fully describes the three elements of hip hop: dance, art, and rapping. The movie includes interviews of all of the major innovators of the dance style and of the hip hop personalities. The documentary covers the roots of b-boying from New York, L.A. and the West Coast, how the dance craze revolutionaized life in the '80's, and how international breakers keep the styles alive today. My review is an understatement of the visuals and information presented in the movie. I don't want to start naming names, because there are so many who deserve credit for making this magnificent representation. Also, the DVD has battles, videos, and extras. I have shown this DVD to some of my students and developed comprehension and essay questions for it. Some of the moves cannot be duplicated. There are many moments when oohs and aahs are inevitable. This DVD allows you to relive the hypest moments of the '80's, but it keeps the dance alive for years and decades to come.Read full review
