The Starting Point Of The Legend!
The first season of Babylon 5 set the stage for the five season arc, setting characters before the viewer, establishing backgrounds and mysteries (Sinclair's missing memories, Garibaldi's past, what does Kosh look like inside his suit), and introducing us to the mysterious enemy threatening the galaxy. While there were definite changes from the pilot movie, and then later seasons, especially in look and cast, the core story stayed true. Unlike other series (Deep Space Nine comes to mind), Babylon 5 stayed true to the overall story laid out in the series bible, and presented a clear storyline that didn't waver and shift as the series progressed. If you love series science fiction, and want an engaging story, start here. While cast changes did occur due to real life issues, the story is good, and the (then pioneering) CGI works very well.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Show was awesome but the disks aren’t
#1. The show itself was fantastic. Seasons 1-4 are probably the best sci-fi writing ever. Season 5 wraps up the series with lazy writing and some weak CGI effects. #2 The DVD’s aren’t LABELED. There are 2-4 episodes per disk and the episodes aren’t printed on the disks. THEY SHOULD BE. The interior case parts aren’t very good. They can break easily. Flimsy plastic. #3. Sound and video quality are excellent for DVD. I watched on my 4K 80” TV and my 4K 50”. Both TVs provided flawless picture quality and the widescreen format truly made the show look better than I remember it in the 90’s on mY 32” SDTV. Hopefully a BLU RAY set will become available and the number of disks can be reduced and labels can added.

The 1st season of B5 may not have been the best, but it started us out on our 5 year journey with B5. If you need to put together an inexpensive set of all the B5 shows & movies, buying the DVD used is the way to go.
