I have watched a lot of great movies in my time, but A Perfect World is one of the greatest movies I have ever watched. It is so heart-rending and so moving, especially the ending. I could watch this movie every day and not get tired watching it. Kevin Costner is such a great actor and should of won an award for his acting in this movie.

A Perfect World is A PERFECT Movie! Normally Costner's obvious devilish-charm makes his movies so appealing. A Perfect World carries Costner into his 1st role as an anti-hero with a quasi-darkside. Watching this film...you will NEVER say the man can't act. He is wonderful in this Clint Eastwood directed film. My only problem with the film is that Eastwood should NOT have had such a large role in the movie. This film was about a flawed-man who thru the chance meeting and circumstances he encounters with a young boy, is able to reflect on his past, learn about this character, while forging a touching and profound relationship with the young boy. A MUST SEE MOVIE!
I am taking a class on character development, and "A Perfect World" was cited as a great example of how a man answers the unasked questions a growing boy has about his journey to becoming a man. Do I have what it takes to be a man? Do I have value? It is a well done feature, and is very easy to identify with the characters. The main characters are not perfect and have their flaws, but you understand why and identify with them anyway. Its a fun story where it is supposed to be fun, and intense where it should be intense. It is definitely a MUST SEE!
This is one of the best films directed by Clint Eastwood. If you enjoy good heart-warming road-style movies, then this will be your thing. It follows a prison escapee, Butch (Kevin Costner) who kidnaps a boy from his home with another prison escapee who he is not fond of. They are, of course, running from the police and are trying to keep low-profile. Butch ends up ridding them of his fellow prison escapee (very cool scene), and begins a male-bonding relationship with the young boy; who he begins to refer to as "Buzz." Throughout the film Butch becomes somewhat of a father figure to the fatherless Buzz, while Butch feels the same way, and tries to teach the boy simple male instincts, i.e.: Peeing on trees, riding on top of cars for a thrill. Butch is ideological and wishes for the best, while at the same time knowing he is a "bad guy." Very good film, definitely worth watching. It's a shame that this film isn't very popular. Side note: If you are from central Texas like I am, pay attention to the locations!Read full review
