This item completed my Next Generation DVD set. Star Trek really got a much needed boost when Next Generation came on the scene. It propelled the whole star trek franchise forward. Three other series followed the success of the "Next Generation". For 7 seasons this show treated us to outstanding acting and great special effects. It remains one of my top ten series of all time for many reasons. The main reason to enjoy this series is of course space and all the new worlds, creatures and high tech inventions shown throughout the series. Also important were themes of friendship, right and wrong and working together for a greater good. The mission peace was very important. And although the Enterprise had great weapons of mass destruction, they were only brought to bear when that avenue was the only one of choice. This series took characters from the original and expanded and redefined them. The Klingons were enemies in the original and then allies in the the next generation. Original Star Trek cast members returned to Next generation to reintroduce them to a whole new generation of Star Trek fans. Some of my favorite episodes involve Leonard Nimoy's two part return. I also enjoyed James Doohan (Scotty) in Relics. Seeing the old Captain Kirk era enterprise bridge was awesome. Not every episode was the best ever. However, each episode a brilliant moments. Next generation had nearly 100 more episodes than the original series. SEason 6 begins with the Times Arrow part 2. This is one of my favorite two parters. Data winds up in early 20th century San Francisco and the crew has to go back and rescue him. They also run into Whoopee Goldberg's character. The scene with Patrick Stewart ( Captain Picard) and Guinan (Whoopee Goldberg) is very touching and reminds us how good of an actors they are. Data, the android in search of his humanity, always nails every scene he's in. He is by far my favorite character. Every character on the show contributed and had episodes featuring them prominently. I loved the Klingon story line. It is also one of my favorites. Wesley left at the right time. THe women of the show were all stunningly beautiful. Yes, even Mr. Roddenberry's wife. The fact that the show didn't pair Dr. Crusher and Captain Picard was a credit to the show. But the underlying tension was always there. The same could be said of Riker and Troi. This series had so many levels and season six continued to explore that. I would really recommend this series to anyone of any age.Read full review
I bought season six because I loved "Time's Arrow" and the episode "Rascals." The characters here get to explore and develop a bit more, and there was a interesting challenge (not really) for Johnathan Frakes to play another Will Riker in "Second Chances." Worf finds his faith, and pulls off the most excellent impression of a spaghetti western sheriff ever and the Captain finds time for love, and time to be tortured. Beverly becomes a sleuth, Deanna becomes both posessed, and a lether clad cowgirl who's handy with a Winchester rifle (someone has to explain that one since she rarely picked up a phaser) and Geordi almost gets eaten by goo. As for Data, his father the illustrious Dr. Soong leaves him a present, although Data is shocked (literally) with this discovery. As with season five we are graced with a TOS actor, the late James Doohan and it was done in a fantastic way. Any fan of ST:TNG would be remiss if they did not have this season in their collection. It is a season that reminds us of those who have gone before us, and need to go on.Read full review
I think the best thing about watching Star Trek episodes is that NEARLY every episode deals with a contemporary issue. Granted, you must pay attention, but if you do, you will see the issue from both sides in most episodes. Women's rights, racial divides,(or species divides, if that's a real term)radical verses contemporary views, the power of the state over the rights of the individual, etc. The season six series carries on this tradition. The cinematic effects continue to improve in this series as they did in season four. The writing continues in the tradition of the original series, the most noticeable difference is better acting! I would strongly suggest to anyone looking to purchase this series that they purchase the original series, not one of the knockoffs. There is a definite difference in picture quality, especially if viewed on a high def system. The copies just don't seem to have the picture quality. This series will please not only the true Trekkie's, but anyone who wants to relax and watch an enjoyable piece of television history.Read full review
Loved watching all these shows again after all these years. Watching them with my kids has been so much fun!

What can I say? I am a fan of the Next Generation and was happy to see that ebay offered a much more affordable means of obtaining the DVD collection sets of each season. $120 for each season as Paramount released them was a bit much! I have to say that as time went on, Next Generation improved a great deal. The later seasons were among my favorites!
