This movie is a "Hammer Films" production, which there were many of in the 1950s' through the 70s'. They were period pieces that usually had to do with vampires or the supernatural. This one film in particular was part of the "Karnstein Trilogy" which was based on a novel. The three films (The Vampire Lovers, Lust for a Vampire, and Twins of Evil) were made in the 70s' about vampires. This interested me and is the reason why I first wanted to purchase this DVD. The movie itself is mildly entertaining, but the pace is a little too slow for my taste. Its nudity might keep some viewers watching. The extras on the DVD are quite great however. There are two different galleries of pictures that are great, radio spots, a commentary, the original movie trailer, and talent bios. Overall, it was worth the purchase.Read full review
1970, boy does that year bring back memories. I was out of High School 2 years, I had finished my basic training in the U.S.A.F. and was on leave back in the Bronx, before leaving for London England where I would be in school for Air Recon Photography. I remember going to the movies on the first night we were allowed to enjoy ourselves. I chose to go to the movies, and was lucky enough to see LUST FOR A VAMPIRE on a large screen in one of the movie theatres in London. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that I fell in lust with Yutte Stensaard. She was one of the most beautiful vampire's I had ever seen. I was lucky enough to meet Ms Stensgaard some years later at a Movie Media Convention, in New Jersey, and had Ms Stensgaard autograph the VHS copy of this movie, which I still have. The film is still one of my favorites.Read full review

I being a fifty three year old gentleman grew up on Hammer Horror Films. Their backdrops, the acting, their ability to portray the feel of the balkans, trannsylvania, their introduction of nubile young beautiful women into their movies was an act of bravery and intelligence. I love all the Hammer movies and will remain a fan of their vampire movies forever..I simply cannot watch True Blood or any of todays vampire movies as they are far inferior to those of Hammer.
