Probably one of the weirdest movies of all time. The story is filled with a huge cast of A-listers. Every aspect of it is nonsensical. As is the case with many of John Cusack's vehicles, this one requires close watching. Filled from beginning to end with sight-gags that are never mentioned or verbally referred to, it is easy to miss some of the best moments if you aren't watching carefully. A direct's cut with extra scenes. Features an unsuspecting John Malkovich who becomes a means of escape from life via a half floor in a skyscraper. In one of the offices is a small entry which leads directly into John Malkovich's brain. That trip becomes an enterprise when tickets are sold to people looking for an escape from their lives. A puppeteer, (John Cusack)is leading a unfilled life in an unhappy marriage. A strange series of circumstances gives him hope of escape. He locks his wife(an almost unrecognizable Cameron Diez)in a pet cage as he goes on a surreal journey to find love, only to be caught in a trap he never expected. Eventually John Malkocitch becomes aware that all is not right. The plot thickens as the story-line becomes more and more bizarre. A clever mix of humor and heart break thread throughout to the cliffhanger ending.Read full review
