Sylvester Stallone has a lead role, but he is not the main character. Those who don't like Stallone in this movie need to just be quiet because this movie shows that he can play other roles then just Rambo. There are three main characters including Stallone and they all have equal screen time. Burt Reynolds is amazing and so is Estella Warren, but there are other characters. It has a lot of action music and action scenes. There are a few parts of profanity spoken by the character who plays Sylvester Stallone's wife. I would just turn the volume down on that part. It's a good movie, but it is still a Hollywood movie. It's also one of a kind because I don't think there's a part 2. And it came out the same year as fast and the furious, but I never knew it existed. Without the profanity it is a very good movie. Sylvester Stallone looks to be in his later 30s, but he's really about 55 the time they made this movie Estella Warren is about 22 when they made this movie. Another reason Stallone is really good in this movie is because he is a very strong person. The character he plays has to be very strong mentally and physically, so I think he fits the role perfectly. Other people could have played his role, but it might not have been that good of a movie. Stallone can drive race cars, but on his off-days he can shoot all kinds of guns in other movies. 4 out of 5 Stars just because of that profanity spoken. That's the only part that makes the movie look bad, including the character he says the stuff. Read full review

Absolutely the undisputed winner of all time and all race movies for the least plausible, most ridiculous, and downright silly plot. Not likely to by surpassed, ever. That said, the cinematography was spectacular, the special effects very well done, and if you enjoy crash scenes, this is the movie for you! Stallone is likable and the evil opponent driver despicable as appropriate. An amusing watch, but ….silly.

Was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. Wisely, Sylvester Stallone, lets the other actors and the racing car special effects/action sequences carry the majority of this movie for him. While not 100% racetrack speedway accurate in its depiction of the sport itself, DRIVEN was pretty cool.

Not a bad movie, but Sylvester Stallone? Really? Good actor, but not right for this part. Also, who wears Cowboy boots in a Formula Car? Some good driving sequences though. Worth watching since there are so few automotive racing films.

Driven might be the worst racing movie you will ever see. The racing is inaccurate, the special effects are poor and the acting is worse. Sylvester Stallone plays a has-been driver called in to inspire Kip Pardue, who drives better than he acts. The plot is trite but serves as filler between the exaggerated racing. Burt Reynolds plays a curmudgeon owner who is sarcastic, bitter and manipulative. The racing is inaccurate; the cars switch from road course wings back to speedway wings during the same race. The crashes are embellished beyond the laws of physics. The CART (the racing series) cars run on methanol, a fuel that burns with a clear flame and is diluted in water. The movie shows a car flying through the air and landing in a pond, bursting into yellow and orange flames (gasoline). Another scene shows a tire flying off the car and flying into the stands. That scene has an obvious (poorly drawn) tire going in slow motion and the fans diving out of the way. This is in very poor taste because this happened in a "real" CART race and resulted in fatalities. An additional scene outside a Chicago hotel has the drivers jumping into cars (that magically don’t need starters as in real life) and racing like madmen, through the streets of the Windy City without helmets. I’ve been to over 40 CART races, and the most boring race was better than Driven. If you want to see Sylvester Stallone in a racing movie, buy Death Race 2000 (1976) - it's fake but at least it's entertaining.Read full review
