Great fun. Hugh Laurie (Of House fame)and Stephen Frye are perfectly suited to the roles. They interact smoothly with each other. With just the raise of an eyebrow by Bertie or the aloof nose in the air pose of Jeeves, brings a smile. The stories are truely about nothing. They don't need a real plot, it would only get in the way . Totally enjoyable. I watched tham on A&E years ago I remembered them being fun to watch. But they surpassed my memories. I have read Wodehouse since college days and enjoyed most of the books. I don't think you need to be familiar with the books to enjoy these to zanies stumble along lifes path. Give them a try I'm sure you'll be looking for the second season.
The Season 1 DVD set of Jeeves and Wooster for Region 1 (USA) is a hilarious and well done rendering of P.G. Wodehouse's work. The 1920s costuming and sets are very well designed, and the music is true to the Jazz Age as far as I can tell. It's especially fun to see young fast-friends Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry acting here in 1990 -- some 34 years ago! I also enjoyed spotting various guests, including Martin Clunes before he gained acclaim as Doc Martin. I already have the entire series on DVD. I purchased this Season 1 in order to watch the first 4 episodes on Disc 1, which is misplaced at my house. When I find the lost disc, I'll be able to gift this Season 1 to witty friends who will enjoy it as much as I do. The seller priced the 2-dvd set fairly, and responded promptly to my order, which arrived on time and in excellent condition, so thank you! Read full review

I watched this series with my Dad, when I was a kid, and I loved it! Hugh Laurie is great as Bertie Wooster and he has a great partner in comedy in Stephen Fry. When I watched "House" the first time I said can that be Hugh Laurie from Jeeves and Wooster? What talent, to be such a chameleon! I was anxious to watch Jeeves and Wooster again and see if it was as good as I'd remembered - it was! The shows hold up beautifully! But remember, if you're looking for more "House" - Laurie is funny, kookie, and very easy going in this show!
Anyone familiar with the impressive bodies of work accomplished by these two comic geniuses, will be delighted to add this british sitcom to their list of faves. A bit more focused than 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie', it focuses on a specific set of characters, rather than a bundle of colorful skits. A very fun show, I felt practically overwhelmed as each episode crossed over the 45 minute mark, I don't think you can get enough of a good thing, but in this aspect the show is very satisfying. Highly recommend!
I am not a fan of British humor, but this series did not take long to grow on me. The first and second seasons are the best. Hugh Laurie (from Fox's House series) gets himself into incredibly zany situations that only HE could make plausible. The butler Jeeves always comes to the rescue to fix any situation while taking no credit. He is a male Mary Poppins for adults. Laugh out loud funny at times and at its worst it's still highly amusing.
